40 day Lent challenge, training

Busy wednesday – low challenge day (8th)

NB. I am no longer doing this class or am a part of Womensfitnessplus in Cork. Big differences in our professional ethics (or lack of same) put an end to our collaboration. I will miss all the wonderful women I’ve met in my classes and PT sessions, but I will not miss being treated with condesenting arrogance for my professional knowledge and/ or as a fellow human being.
Since Womensfitnessplus made it mandatory for their trainers to sell at least 3 Kinetica products on each shift, I had to say I wouldn’t do it. I’d give information about the products, but under no circumstances would I push the products to women, who didn’t need them. I don’t believe in selling useless stuff, or even worse telling lies to make a profit like.
I’m a fitness professional with ethics and beliefs on what’s right and whats wrong – I work for results, not for greed.
As a result our ways departed – and despite I miss the happy women – I would choose to stand by my ethics again.

Wednesday is my busy day with going from work to second work and back to first work again. Today however didn’t turn out as frustrating insane as last Wednesdays 11 work hours on a 14 hours day. So I could/ should probably have done more challenging training circuit today, but I kept it safe and will go into my detox little fuller than expected. Anyway, without further excuses here is todays training – the challenge was to use 16kg for all swings and C&J, and do a ‘Cardio-lost’ round with all my PT sessions and classes:

16kg KB
* 100 16kg KB Swings
* 26 C&J 16 kg KB (for some reason its way harder to put a KB up there, than it is to press a dumbbell up)
Cardio-lost:
* 100 Burpees
* 200 Mountain climbers
* 200 Jumping Jacks
* 200 Reverse mountains
* 200 cross bounces
additional:
* 20 Hindu push ups
* 100 Squats

Tomorrow its No Food day! Feel all exhausted already. Haven’t really gotten any good ideas for Low intensity training during my detox, so I think, I’ll stick with the yoga routines + pull ups tomorrow (gotta keep at them, otherwise they disappear magically!). But if anyone have a good idea, please feel free to share!!

Detox – so we meet again

Tired monday after a long weekend

And No! Didn’t go out drinking. In fact, I rarely, rarely do, but since I’m living in Ireland now, I wouldn’t hold it against anybody, if someone had an ‘hangover’ idea after reading the title.

I spend my whole weekend working in the kitchen as the kicthen Kuli (translate into laborer in english, but the danish or indian term is more fun. Anyway, meant with a lot of warmth and humor!). Prepping vegetables, making starters, making icecream, baking bread, making springrolls, making deserts and well… trying to keep up with one of Ireland’s finest up coming chefs Caitlin Ruth, in Deasys fish restaurant. (and no, we don’t serve fish and chips. Not sure why actually. Hahaha).

Anyway two days and one whole night standing on my feet. Stuffing my face with food (have to taste you know 😉 ) and trying to manage an uncomfortable level of stress made out about 20 hours during two days. I was wrecked this morning!! So I didn’t go to the gym, because – it’s 2 classes day at Womens Only Fitness Gym in Cork!

Started out with a 45 min Kettlebell Class:

Swings
Squats
Mid halo

½ TGU

Then after a PT session it was time for Boxercise. Ladies did as usual a really good effort. I think they’re getting along, cause despite I put in a bit tougher exercise, the after report was, that it was easier. So!! I think it’s time to shake things next week 🙂

Anyway… tomorrow its LENT and I’m doing it this year along with a very special 40 day challenge, that you’re all welcome to join in! And please don’t be afraid to leave comments if you try out any of the challenges. I would love to hear from you!

‘That’s the best physical activity, I’ve ever done in my life’

Yesterday I got a splendid reason, for why I’m doing, what I’m doing here in Ireland.
After my boxercise class at Womens Fitness Cork a lady, told me: ‘That’s the best physical activity, I’ve ever done in my life’. And she continued: ‘I’ve tried everything running, swimming, spinning, coming to the gym. I’ve never found anything as enjoyable as boxing, it’s simply the best.’

It totally made my day and night – and now, ‘the morning after’. After a hard day of going back and forth from one class to the next and my little despair on V-day, it made it all worth it. Not only because it validated my status as a trainer, but more so, she confirmed how great boxing (martial arts) is.

And yes, I’m very well aware that boxercise is not boxing or martial arts. That it – in someone elses hand might be more like Tae Bo. But! In my boxercise classes – it all comes from boxing and the love of the sport, respect for technique, hard work and more hard work and a lot of fun.

So thank you for telling me – and thank you for letting me share my love for boxing with you guys.

Lift up

I got my lift up on you tube. Form not the best, but as it was a PR I’m quite content with the lift.

Weekend didn’t hold that much training, but we did manage to get saturday thaiboxing down. Felt really good to hit and kick – but f*** those pads always makes me feel out of shape. It’s just a nagging feeling of always needing to be faster and harder, all the time. On every opportunity given. (I kind of feel, like I hear Kenneth, my first real fight coach in the back of my mind: ‘Faster Tania!! Faster, Faster, Faster!!).

Friday evening I enjoyed another trip to the gym:
1000m on C2 (4:35)
Squat:
5x 20kg
2x 5x 30kg
2x 5x 40 kg

DeadLift:
2x 5x 40kg
2x 5x 60kg
2x 5x 80kg

Abs and back with Liam.

Saturday
1.5 hour of thaiboxing

Monday
1h and 7min non stop running (13.5 km) – very nice as I didn’t feel up for a thing this morning. Stepped onto the treadmill and hoping I could last 3k at mediocre speed. So very pleased!!

Squat super settet with Pull Ups/ Chin Ups:
5x 20kg
-5 pull ups-
2x 5x 30 kg
– 4 chin ups inbtw sets –
-4 pull ups btw next set-
2x 5x 40 kg
– 4 chin ups btw sets-
– 4 side pull ups btw next set –
2x 5x 50 kg
-4 side chin ups btw sets-

5x 15kg snatch

100 Abs variants + 2 x 30sec back bridge

2nd Class: BOXERCISE
This class is really taking off! Fully booked and was booked a week in advance – new record according to the owners. (And yes, I am very proud of that!) Boxercise was one of my favorite classes to teach back in Copenhagen, and it seems like its gonna be the same here in Ireland. (To be honest – I like teaching all my classes! Boxing however – you just can’t help falling in love with it)

To my big delight a lot of the ladies who came last monday for our Boxercise premier, returned this monday (yesterday) and did a great job.
I can’t wait till we get longer into the season – when the basics are down, a new world is going to open up for us. And as with the real deal boxing – boxercise only gets better with time!

When I moved to Ireland in november last year, I re-stated an old goal on my deadlift: 100 kg. My previous attempt was a bet with Jacob Søndergaard – an old good friend of mine. He was supposed to do 200 kg and I was supposed to reach 100kg. For reasons not recalled we decided to skip the bet and I stopped at 86 kg.

Now, I won’t be able to make 100kg saturday. But I hope to make 87.5 or 90kg.
