Moment of truth

So tonight was the moment of truth – or rather a delayed moment of truth.

Oh yeah - and Merry Christmas

The actual event took place long before tonight, and even I knew the outcome it was in a way, nice to get it served! It came in a different wrapping than expected. I’d expected the ‘normal’ route, but instead there was some twist and turns, that revealed more about the sender, than I think was intended.

Did the revelation of the truth change the reality for the implicated? I think it does. It should open the minds and make clear, that what was once ‘the truth’ is no longer.  And this new truth – could set free!

But the outcome itself: Expected, there could be no other truth.

The truth about the MAX 2010

Giorgio Petrosyan is King of the MAX for another year – and for the second consecutive year. But he was no near as untouchable as last year. But *G* I’m still in love with his sublime technique, timing and understanding of the game! But next year… I wonder, wonder..

What I did on my friday

Main event - Strikeforce 5.12.2010

Life is a funny size. Yesterday was a low – and a high.
To start with the high! Did the first StrikeForce show on Eurosport 2 (Danish TV). Fights were mostly awesome, except for the first one, which I thought should have ended in the second round. Then – one could argue, that Benji Radach (Radai) returned for a small piece of glory in the third – but there was substantial long moments in the first and second round of the fights, where he didn’t defend himself actively (or very intelligent – he turtle up).

Rest of the fights were awesome, and I got really cheering over Paul Daleys KO over Scott Smith. It was beautiful!  Even it would have been fun with a reprise of the Smith vs Sell fight. And Dan Henderson showed that 10 years waiting for a rematch doesn’t necessarily changes the outcome. Once again he beat Babalu Sobral. Peeew…
So that was the high of the day. My low – well, one of the precious lessons I’m learning in this life, is if you put your nose out there – you might get it beaten. If you eat too much – you get fat – and if you trust someone with your heart – you set out for misery (maybe). Given your heart up can set you up for failure, cause it leaves you so vulnerable.  If you trust someone to have your back, you might end up getting beat up…

Or – when your (socall) best friend is choosing to be friends with a man who calls you – among other demeaning things – a racist. A stupid, ignorant man, you could think yes. But also a man – whom of a lot of people I know – should keep himself too good to use the R-word (he’s arab and muslim!). I got annoyed and bothered by him insulting me like that, because I know, that he had encountered a lot of obstacles in the Danish society due to his nationality and religion – and I would never use his origins, religion or looks back on him. But he chose to attack me that way. Totally unfounded btw. as the reason for his attack was a result of his paranoia, rather than reality. So for no reason – and with no right, he calls me a racist. And it annoys me, that he doesn’t hold himself too good to be so low. He has no idea, what its like to be an asian woman in Denmark. Not only the generic difference – but struggling with the battle of sexes as well. It was a low blow by him, not to have any empathy at all to view the world from others pow.

But hurt – no it didn’t.  Hurt was applied from the person I thought had my back – from my friend, who I thought would stick up for me. The people we trust. The ones who supposed to have our back and stand up for us, when the world is unfair. But maybe loyalty is too much to ask – all one have – is oneself?

Easter beatings and cab drivers

I’m not sure how I like my week so far. It’s been a bit lazy, but still alive, so that’s gotta count for something.

Main focus on the blog these days – training, training and more of that:
Morning session at Mikenta. Pelle taught the class. Only about an hour of training, but pretty good class with emphasis on different combos. Hardest part – was to get up at 6, get on the train and bike from the station. I was ridiculously hungry on the way back.
Afternoon: Training with my two half hour classes in ABC. They’re going quite strong, and I applaud the ladies for hanging in there!!
First class 30 min:
20 Deadlift Twist w 5 kg
20 Side twist (5k)
16 Saxon side bends (5 k)
6 Turkish get ups (8 k KB)
25 Lunges w 5 k
25 Supermans

3 x 1 min wall squats/ 10 squat jumps
Finish off: 2 minute plank

Second class 30 min:
Lots of drills with the big ball + 1 session of tabata abb drill (inspired by Rasmus, Thanks)
Finish off: 2 min plank

1 hour full drill with the company of a student from the girl class:
* 1 round of warm up on the bag
* Sweet 20-I actually grown quite fond of my elaborated Ross drill
(5 sets of 4 minutes pr set. Tabata style sets: 20 sec work/ 10 sec break)
– 1 set: Heavy bag work
– 2 set: Burpees (8 – 9 pr round)
– 3 set: Push Ups (12 – 16)
– 4 set: Squats (12)
– 5 set: Heavy bag work
* 3 rounds of explosive bagwork
* 100 teeps
* 200 knees

Evening: FIGHT CLUB – got to air the K-1 MAX Europe elimination show from Budapest, Hungary. Not that impressed with the level of the fighters – or maybe it was just not their night. Guy who won – Phillipe Salmon, had really heavy hands and very precise in his boxing, but sorry – can’t really see him against any of the K-1 MAX warriors like Kyshenko, Petrosyan, Holtzken, Buakaw. That would just seem a ridicules match up.
Also ‘La Nuit des Titans’ from Tours, France was aired. Unfortunately only 3 fights from this exiting France vs Thailand event. Anuwat and fellow thai fighter Sittichai (Sitpongpeenong) ended up in the finale, with Sittichai getting the win from the judges.
I hope the young nak muay send a thankful thought to the judges, it was really close fights, both of them – and I’m not quite sure, he was the true winner after the ordinary fight time against Pinca – and again in the finale against Anuwat. I actually think, Anuwat finished of the strongest.
Going to be interesting to watch with Liam.

– Oh yeah, and the cab drivers!! Whats with these people? Do they really hate everyone else, or do they have a bet going on how many bicycles they can run over in one shift?
I can almost picture it: Cab driver calling his hit n’ run into the central, ‘this is car 666, we’ve just had two more hits, that should put us in first place’.
Dam** – just because you’re in a Mercedes for a living all day, doesn’t make you special! At the most it makes you a lazy as* driver, who thinks he’s put on earth to rule the roads. News Flash!  It’s not cool to drive Mercedes when it’s not your own. Doesnt make you sexy and doesnt make you a good driver either. Just a lazy hazard!

Strength workout 6 & return of the Fight Club

Today was an overall good day! Training wise and work wise 🙂

Started the day out by a boxing session with Johnny De Lima. It’s always a good way to start the day, and it’s never too hard, so there was energy left for more training after lunch. Boxing basically consisted of bagwork, shadow and 2 on 2 drills – finished off by 200 abs, 100 back and 50 push ups.

Johnny De Lima & me (Kessler being interviewed in the background)

Afternoon training – from the Ross Bible: Strength workout 6
* 2 DB Split snatch (3 reps, 5 sets) super set with
* 2 DB Push press (3 reps, 5 sets)
* 1 arm DB bench press (5 reps, 4 sets) Super set with
* 8 depth plyometric push ups (4 sets) +
* Wall Squats (hold 1 minute) (4 sets)+
* 10 Jump Squats (4 sets)

Plyometric push up with clap

Due to my injured wrist, I chose not to do the to first DB drills. Instead I did 1 x 5 Clean & Press with 7.5 kg DB and 6 x5 10 kg DB. (One arm at the time)
Also for the depth plyometric push ups, I had to revise the drill, and instead doing 16 fast push-ups. My 1 arm DB bench press was done with 10 kg DB. As long as my wrist are fragile, I rather stay training with little or no weight, than go crazy in kilo-… but have to admit, it’s a bit boring thou.

Wall squats and squat jumps are easy peasy (sort of). I do it with my class in All girls and all good and strong!! No problems in that. For my later afternoon training, I had to teach the girls class in Siam. I’ve started the class out on a low-level, but will slowly drive them up. Today we did about 100 push ups throughout the class. I bet, none of them would think, they could ever do this.

SLAMM 6 poster

Evening ended at Eurosport, commentating this years second Fight Club! Fantastic evening, with pure awesomeness: Andy Souwer vs Masato from Dynamite event, and four fights from the awesome SLAMM 6, Holland vs Thailand.
Excellent fights – and what a pleasure to be showing pure muay thai fights on Eurosport.

And so explosive cocktail: The dutch style vs thai style. A viewing pleasure for all fight fans. Yodsenklai – Bourdif was main fight – and so cool. Yodsenklai came in with these small uppercut elbows, that just cut up between Bourdifs guards. Ring Generalship!!
